BRIDAL BLISS

Having been a bride myself, I realize how stressful and hectic it can be to plan a wedding even with the professional help of a wedding planner. Ultimately it is you the bride in most cases who will be responsible for coordinating venues, invitations, guest list, and most importantly finding the perfect dress.

Lately I have been in contact with many brides. And I love hearing each one tell me about the man of their dreams, the hopes and wishes they have always had for their big day. And I love being a part of completing that fairy tale. After all, we all were once little girls, and we all dreamed about finding our one true love, our own prince charming. Even though we are a wedding vendor, I don't like to think of my clients as a business transaction, your wedding is just as important to me as it is to you!

I want it to be a day you always remember, as you dreamed it would be. At URBAN BOMBSHELL we treat your big day, as if it were our own. Its our job to make you happy, and we strive to bring our clients the best!

Bridal Beauty

All weddings are special, but your big day will be one of the most important days of your life. A day that you have thought about since you were a little girl, and throughout your life turning into a beautiful woman. Now that you have found your Prince Charming, its time to think about bridal beauty.

Most brides choose to have a professional makeup artist assist them on their special day to help relieve stress, and make that day that much more perfect. But its not to say that you can not achieve the perfect look yourself.

I think the most important step to having a flawless look on your wedding day is proper health, nutrition and a suitable skin care regimen. Your skin is like a blank canvas, you want your skin to moisturized, soft, and flawless. Also think about what type of look you want for your wedding - soft and natural, dramatic and bold, elegant, or for some wild and fun.

My favorite products and tips to share with you beautiful brides are:

1) Smashbox Photofinish Primer - this product applied to clean, moisturized skin, before foundation. And helps to maintain your look all day.

2) False Eyelashes - a must have, a guaranteed way to make your eyes pop. After all, all eyes are on you!

3) Lip Gloss - play around with different colors, and glosses to see which ones you love, and last throughout the day.

4) Do not be afraid to try out a few different makeup artists, its your day you should have an artist that understands your vision.

5) Research what you want, certain looks you like, colors, etc this way you have the best knowledge of the look you want for your wedding.

6) Remember you can only have your eyes or your lips as a focal point, not both.

You’ll want to feel like a million dollars on your big day and remember URBAN BOMBSHELL Makeup Artistry is here to help by creating a natural, radiant look.

Winter Beauty Tips

Having lived in the Vancouver area most of my life, we usually have mild winter's but this year the forecast is for cooler and wetter temperatures than usual. So its time to save face for winter.

1) Moisturizer MORE!!! You should keep in mind that the moisturizer you use for spring/summer may not be the best choice for winter. With cooler temperatures you will need an oil-based product, rather than a water based moisturizer. Remember when choosing a moisturizer to look for non-pore clogging oils like primrose oil, avocado oil or mineral oil. Another great tip is to try a "humectant", which helps to attract moisture to your skin.

2) Check your toner! Make sure you are using an alcohol free toner, using an alcohol based toner will remove vital oils from your skin. Causing you to have dull, dry skin, and really who wants that?

3) Drink lots of Water! I don't think I can really stress enough that the best way to have healthy moisturized skin is to drink plenty of water. Hydrate your body from the inside out!

4) Use Lip Balm! The best way to save your lips is to keep them protected. I'm not a big believer in spending lots of money on a name brand one's either, Blistex or ChapStick brand are both relatively inexpensive, and both contain sunscreen.

5) EXFOLIATE This really is essential all year long, but lets not forget how dull and dry our skin can get during Winter. No more than twice a week with a gentle exfoliant. My personal exfoliate is a little baking soda mixed with my favorite creamy face wash.

I hope these suggestions help you look your best this winter, and keep your face happy!!!

My favorite tips for a flawless face!!!

Your face is the first thing people notice about you, so to keep it at your best here are a few tips to try out.

1) EXFOLIATE - I can not stress enough how important this is, your skin naturally exfoliates (shed's) a layer every 28 day's. Using a face wash with an exfoliant daily can often do more damage then good to your skin. I would recommend exfoliating once a week with a gentle scrub. An easy cheap way to exfoliate is to ad a small amount of baking soda to your skin cleanser in the palm of your hand, use gentle circular motions to apply the paste to your skin, rinse and you have soft, brilliant skin.

2) PRIMER - I don't know how I used to live my life before PRIMER. It's my favorite beauty item in my kit. You apply primer to clean skin, after your moisturizer. It helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores, for flawless skin, also my favorite benefit of using primer.....it makes your foundation last way longer! Perfect for everyday or special occasions. My favorite primer is SMASHBOX - Photo Finish Primer...I use the oil free formula in the summer when my skin tends to be oilier, and the regular version in winter when my skin in dry.

3) WATER, EXERCISE and CLEAN EATING - I would never push any of this on you unless I for sure new it would make a difference, but truly it does. Drink plenty of water, exercise for 30 minutes a day, and eat as clean as possible. Not only will this benefit your skin, but your whole body!

I hope all you bombshell's out there enjoyed my tips for a flawless face!!! =)

DO IT YOURSELF BEAUTY!

Don't you ever get annoyed with how expensive it is to look good? I do... I have some great secrets to share with all of you....you can thank me later!

FEET - Pedicures can be expensive, but a great way to make your pedi's last is by exfoliating and moisturizing your feeties!

Mix some olive oil (which has great moisturizing properties), with lemon juice (citric acid helps to exfoliate naturally), and sugar to a liquid, grainy consistency. Rub all over feet, and rinse off. Your feet will feel so soft, and very moisturized. Try this at least once a week!

FACE - An easy way to brighten your complexion, and tighten pores! But first please test on a small area for any reactions, we don't want to cause a break out ladies (or gents)!

Mash 1 cup ripe strawberries, add egg white's, honey, lemon juice and apply to skin for 5 to 10 minutes, rinse with warm water. Your skin should be feel tightened and bright, Voila!

HANDS - Just like our feet it is very important to take care of our hands, our hands are often neglected and show our natural aging process. Heres a little recipe to keep them feeling "young" and soft!

Have a pair of cotton gloves (and plastic bag ready for this receipe if you have a helper)!!! Mash one banana, and mix 1 tbsp of softened butter. Apply mixture all over hands, the bag will help to force the mixture into the skin, and then apply gloves. Keep gloves on for at least 5-10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. They should feel dreamy soft!

NAILS - I think all of us can relate to yellow tips on our nails, even as I type this I know I need to practice what I preach and get on whitening my nails, asap!

Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon into a small bowl, rest your the tips of your fingers into the bowel, soak nails for 5 minutes. Try this regularly to keep your nails their whitest!

I hope that my do it yourself beauty tips, help and maybe even saves you a buck or two!!! Good Luck fellow BOMBSHELL's!!!
